In Eastern medicine there is the belief that within everyone’s body there is an energy called Qi (pronounced “chee”) and when it flows properly there is good health. When there is disharmony with the flow of Qi, people will manifest with illness or experience injury.
Some of the disharmonies of the Qi could be; Deficient Qi (not enough Qi), Excess Qi (too much Qi), Stagnant Qi (Qi that is stuck and not moving), Rebellious Qi (Qi that is moving in the wrong direction)
Through the use of the many modalities of Eastern medicine, a practitioner will facilitate the free flow of Qi and therefore help the patient regain their health.

In a more Western view, the body wants to achieve homeostasis (to be in balance) and will do its best to regain that state. Through stimulation through the connective tissue and its effect on the many systems of the body (i.e. nervous, lymphatic, endocrine, etc.) a practioner will help assist with the auto-regulation of the body and therefore help the patient help themselves.
Through the use of acupuncture and other modalities listed below, a practitioner can help a person regain their health and help regain their quality of life.

Examples of the many modalities of Eastern Medicine used here…
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is the use of minute, sterile needles to unlock the body’s own healing potential. Depending on the style used, most patients don’t feel the needles at all.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion (or “Moxa” for short) is the burning of the herb “mugwort” on or over the body to either warm an area or stimulate an acupuncture point’s healing properties.
Cupping
Through the creation of a vacuum, glass or plastic cups are applied to a patient’s back or other areas of the body to bring out the internal stagnation of Qi and/or Blood. This procedure brings that stagnation up to the surface of the skin thus enabling the body to get rid of it on its own for maximum health.
Gua Sha
Similar to cupping, in that a practitioner brings the stagnation to the surface so the body can get rid of it, but instead of cups, an aromatic lubrication is used and the practitioner strokes the skin with a tool to bring up the internal stagnation. Many people describe it as feeling like a deep tissue massage.
Diode Chains/Rings
The use of specifically made diodes attached to chains or rings to ease pain, numbness or other ailments
Every person is different and therefore each treatment is special to the specific patient. One or more methods may be chosen by the practitioner depending on the patient and the disorder treated.
The following is a brief list of issues that can be treated with acupuncture…
- Digestive disorders (IBS, acid reflux, etc.)
- Respiratory conditions (asthma, allergies, etc.)
- Immune deficiency (common cold, chronic sinus infections, etc.)
- Chronic and acute musculo-skeletal pain (neck, back, shoulders, knees, feet, etc.)
- Dermatological issues (Eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, raised and discolored scars, etc.)
- Gynecological conditions (PMS, ovarian cysts, infertility, amenorrhea, etc.)
- Neurological dysfunction (parethesia, paralysis, etc)
- Emotional issues (anxiety, depression, etc.)
- Sleep disorders (insomnia, etc.)
- Stress
